The Story
I spent 25 years working in and running MSPs. For nearly 10 of those I was co-owner, which means I lived everything you are living. The firefighting, the noise, the feeling of sprinting just to stand still. Staff dealing with the same problems repeatedly. Never enough time to work on the business because the business kept pulling you back in.
We didn’t hire our way out of it. We didn’t buy more tools. We fixed the operations.
Over five years we reduced reactive service desk hours from over 1,000 per month to 111, for the same client base of 600 users, without adding headcount. Response time dropped from over an hour to 3 minutes.
When I took that experience into TruMethods peer groups, I realised almost nobody else was operating at this level. Not because they lacked good people or the right intentions. Because nobody had ever given them the operational system to do it.
